14k gold star earrings

gold fill vermeil star earrings

star earrings

Delicate yet dynamic… I made a new batch of these earrings today, so there are a few in stock for the first few takers, then they will be made to order (which only adds about a week to regular delivery time, depending on where you live.) Perfect for everyday wear & showing off that neck for summertime, they are made of gold vermeil stars from a 14K gold fill ear threads and a super fine chain. I’ve already worn my own pair all last weekend and I can sense that these will be my signature set for the season! Get yours here.

I’ve been meaning to share this amazing modern ring that my best pal from Buenos Aires made for me and recently sent in the mail.  As a jeweller, I’m completely amazed that this is her first ring she’s ever made and that I get to wear it! It has excellent form, and excellent function – the backing that fits around my finger is so comfortable in a snazzy black elastic.  Not only does it have that pop art grand scale statement that I love.. but it’s incredibly lightweight! Thank you Marcela, it’s so lovely, just like you.

Thiebaud is one of my favorite painters, if for some reason you aren’t familiar with his work, I found a few videos that highlight some of the reasons I think he takes the cake…

Counting with Wayne Thiebaud, for baby! I recently picked up this sweet treat at the Frye Art Museum gift shop and I’ve concluded that it has to be the coolest baby board book I’ve ever seen.  (Eric Carle books are a close second…)

I’ve been selected as one of three dozen professional artists to “decorate” a penguin statue for the Woodland Park Zoo here in Seattle, to celebrate  the new Humboldt penguin exhibit. I sure had a riot of a time watching Mars help me pick up this guy at the Greenwood Collective Studio, where I was in the passenger seat, parked across the street when he came out on the sidewalk, cradling the heavy beast like a baby – who deceptively looks innocent and light, but is filled with cement! Mars just looked so cool and nonchalant while waiting for the crosswalk light to change, penguin in arms.  Some guys came out of a liquor store across the street, stood in the doorway and hollered with huge childlike grins, “Whoa Man! what are ya gonna do with your penguin?

We shall see. I’ve been brainstorming for a few days and I have some ideas. Check back in early June for the after. For now, here is the before, in the corner my living room… He makes a great conversation piece and happy addition to the decor in the meantime.
